Bryan B. Whaley
Bryan B. Whaley, Ph.D., is a Research Professor of Nursing and Health Communication at University of San Francisco. The founding editor of Nursing Communication, a research journal publishing refereed articles concerning the communicative behavior of nurses, Bryan’s research focuses on interpersonal communication in the health context, especially nurse-patient interaction and linguistic strategies for explaining illness and health-related information. He has published the books Explaining Illness: Research, Theory, and Strategies, and Research Methods in Health Communication: Principles and Application. Bryan has received numerous national teaching and research accolades.
Through his close interaction with Nurses and Nursing students, Bryan was constantly exposed to the frustration of on-line job search. This inspired him to create NURSEJOBSca.com. Bryan is proud to provide a job search service based on the ideals of clarity, efficiency, and elegance for nurses in California.
Bryan has successfully launched a website for horse racing enthusiasts. He enjoys raising and showing world class equines, and being a two daughter dad.
Jay Ratcliffe is a Professional Healthcare Information Technologist with 25 years of experience in developing technology to solve real-world healthcare problems. Jay holds a Masters in Public Administration/Healthcare Administration from Suffolk University in Boston. As one of the early employees of Healtheon/WebMD/Emdeon, the largest commercial health information exchange in the world, Jay is a leading expert in healthcare business administration and information management.
In addition to this professional experience, Jay combined his entrepreneurial passion for technology, healthcare and cooking as co-founder of Cookiti.com, a non-profit website and suite of applications that enable home cooks to understand the nutrition of their own recipes as well as to self-publish cookbooks which include nutritional analysis. Cookiti fills a gap in other nutrition tools by enabling home cooks to access nutrition data for their recipes just as consumers can read labels on purchased food. Jay is excited to bring his expertise to the challenges of nurse job search.
Living in Northern California, Jay is a physician’s spouse who understands the environment of medical practices and hospitals. A trained and experienced professional Chef, Jay enjoys cooking and catering as well as snow skiing, fishing, kayaking, and cheering at his daughter’s swim meets.
